Child Safety & Age Verification Policy
HELLOVE is for adults only. This policy describes how we prevent underage use, verify age and identity, and respond to child-safety concerns. Have legal counsel review before store submission.
1. Adults only (18+)
HELLOVE is an intentional dating application strictly for people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit registration, profiles, or messaging by anyone under 18. Use by minors is prohibited under our Terms of Service.
2. Age gate at registration
- Users must confirm they are 18 or older before creating an account.
- Users provide a date of birth during onboarding; accounts with a DOB indicating under 18 are blocked.
- Providing a false date of birth violates our Terms and may result in immediate termination.
3. Identity & age verification
We use layered verification to reduce impersonation and underage access:
- Selfie verification — a live or recent selfie matched to profile photos to confirm the account holder appears in their profile.
- Government ID verification — where required or offered, users may submit an approved identity document processed by our verification partner (Didit) to confirm legal name, date of birth, and document authenticity.
- Verified status is shown in-app where applicable; verification does not guarantee user conduct but helps enforce our 18+ requirement.
4. Photo & media safeguards
- At least one clear face photo is required; automated checks help detect missing or invalid face photos.
- Uploads are screened for policy violations, including nudity, sexual content, and imagery involving minors.
- Tools may blur or block non-primary faces (e.g. minors in background photos) where detected.
- Accounts with media that appears to depict minors or sexualize minors are removed and may be reported to authorities.
5. Prohibited conduct involving minors
Users must not:
- Create an account if under 18, or assist a minor in creating or using an account.
- Upload photos, video, or messages depicting, soliciting, or grooming minors.
- Share contact information with the intent to meet or communicate with minors from HELLOVE.
- Misrepresent age or identity to contact other users.
Violations result in permanent ban and may be referred to law enforcement.
6. Reporting & blocking
- Use in-app Report and Block on any profile or chat.
- Select reasons such as underage user, harassment, or inappropriate content — reports are reviewed by our team.
- Email support@hellove.co with subject “Child safety report” for urgent concerns.
7. Enforcement & cooperation with authorities
We investigate reports promptly, suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy, and preserve relevant data as required by law. Where appropriate, we cooperate with law enforcement and organizations that address child exploitation, including reports consistent with applicable mandatory reporting obligations in the United States.
8. Parent & guardian notice
If you believe your child has created a HELLOVE account, contact us immediately at support@hellove.co. We will investigate and delete the account and associated data subject to legal retention requirements.
